Faktore wat Mense se Houdings Teenoor die Huwelik Beïnvloed
Abstract
Marriage as an institution has always been important from a Christian scientific perspective. People’s attitudes with regard to marriage have changed in many respects during recent decades. Various factors play a role in the attitudes of people towards marriage. Research has already been carried out to investigate the correlation between the following variables, and people’s attitudes to marriage: age, gender, culture, religion, geographical location, education and training, own marital status, parents’ marital status and conflict within the family. Only in the case of the variables of culture and religion were there no contradictory results between research studies concerning the correlation of these variables with a person’s attitude to marriage. Participation in religious activities, rather than mere religious conviction, was a better predictor for a positive attitude to marriage. The necessity for Christian scientific research concerning South Africans’ attitude to marriage is highlighted in this article.
