DATA AVAILABILITY POLICY
Authors are required to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscripts to clarify the availability, accessibility, and conditions for accessing the data supporting the findings of their study. This statement ensures transparency, reproducibility, and compliance with ethical standards and data-sharing policies.
General Notes for Authors:
- Clearly indicate whether data are publicly available, restricted, or proprietary and specify the repository or database where the data can be accessed.
- Provide permanent identifiers, such as DOIs or accession numbers, for datasets whenever applicable.
- If data cannot be shared publicly due to privacy, confidentiality, or legal restrictions, explain the reason and outline how researchers may request access.
- For conceptual, theoretical, or opinion papers where no data were generated or analysed, explicitly state this under the declarations.
Examples of Data Availability Statements
- Publicly Available Data:
- The datasets generated and analysed during this study are openly available in the [Repository Name] at [DOI or URL]. Researchers may access the data under the terms specified by the repository.
- Data Available Upon Reasonable Request:
- The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request. Access will be granted to researchers who meet the criteria for data sharing established by the institutional review board or ethics committee.
- Restricted Data Due to Confidentiality or Ethical Constraints:
- The data are not publicly available due to confidentiality agreements with participants and ethical restrictions imposed by the Institutional Review Board. However, de-identified data can be made available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request, subject to approval by the ethics committee.
- Third-Party Data:
- The data used in this study were obtained from [Organization/Source] and are subject to third-party restrictions. Researchers may request access to the data directly from [Organization/Source] at [contact information or URL].
- Proprietary or Commercially Restricted Data:
- The data supporting this study’s findings are proprietary and were obtained under license from [Company/Institution Name]. Due to commercial restrictions, the data cannot be shared publicly. Interested researchers may contact [Company/Institution Name] for more information about licensing agreements.
- No New Data Generated or Analysed:
- This study did not generate or analyse any new data. It is based on conceptual, theoretical, or opinion-based arguments and does not rely on empirical datasets.
- Data Included in Supplementary Material:
- All relevant data generated or analysed during this study are included in the manuscript and its supplementary materials. Additional details on data processing methods and analyses are available in the appendix.
- Simulation or Model Data Availability:
- The computational models and simulation data used in this study are available in the [Repository Name] repository at [DOI or URL]. Scripts and code files used for data processing are also available for download to enable replication and further analysis.
- Embargoed Data with Future Availability:
- The data supporting this study are currently under embargo and will become publicly available on [date] at [repository or URL]. Researchers may contact the corresponding author for further details regarding future access.
- Partially Available Data:
- Some of the datasets generated and analysed during this study are publicly available in [Repository Name] at [DOI or URL], while others are subject to restrictions due to participant privacy and consent agreements. Researchers may request access to restricted data from the corresponding author or the institutional ethics committee
Additional Notes for Authors
- Authors should ensure their Data Availability Statements align with funding agency requirements and ethical obligations.
- Authors using publicly available data must provide sufficient details, including repository names, dataset identifiers, and access procedures.
- Manuscripts relying on proprietary or third-party data must clearly describe data access limitations and how readers can obtain similar datasets, if possible.
