Evaluering | Review
Die redaksie van die Tydskrif vir Christelike wetenskap pas onafhanklike, vertroulike eweknie-evaluering op ingediene artikels toe. Manuskripte word voorlopig deur die redaksie nagegaan, waarna dit deur die hoofredakteur na ten minste twee kundige keurders in die relevante veld van navorsing gestuur word. Die identiteit van die outeur(s) word nie aan die evalueerders bekend gemaak nie en insgelyks ook nie die identiteite van die evalueerders aan die outeur(s) nie.
Die kommentaar, met aanbevelings van die evalueerders rakende die stand van artikels aan hulle voorgelê, word aan die redaksie gestuur. Slegs wanneer ingrypende korrektiewe/wysigings deur die kommentaar geïmpliseer word, word die manuskrip, met insluiting van die aanbevelings van die evalueerders na die outeur(s) terugverwys. Manuskripte wat nie vir publikasie goedgekeur word nie, word nie na die indienende outeur(s) teruggestuur nie, maar hy/sy/hulle word wel van die bevinding in kennis gestel.
Die doel van die evalueringsproses is om te verseker dat artikels
- beantwoord aan die kriteria betreffende ’n bydrae tot Christelike wetenskap lewer, of met die Christelik-wetenskaplike tradisie in gesprek tree;
- op ʼn deeglik wetenskaplik wyse aangebied word;
- resultate voortbring wat nêrens anders gepubliseer is nie;
- nuwe wetenskaplike kennis produseer, waar navorsing van ʼn hoë standaard uitgevoer was;
- tot konklusies geraak wat uit die navorsing voortvloei en deur die data ondersteun word;
- voldoen aan toepaslike standaarde betreffende navorsingsetiek;
- voldoen aan toepaslike verslagdoeningsriglyne en gemeenskapstan-daarde vir data-beskikbaarheid;
- in ʼn verstaanbare en logiese trant saamgestel en op ʼn ondubbelsinnige wyse geskryf is; en
- voldoen aan die standaard-voorskrifte vir outeurs, soos gespesifiseer.
The policy of the Journal for Christian scholarship provides for the independent and confidential peer review of every article. Firstly, the manuscript will be scrutenized by the editorial staff, whereafter it will be forwarded by the editor-in-chief to at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field of research. The identity of the author(s) will not be disclosed to the reviewers and likewise the identities of the reviewers will not be disclosed to the author(s).
The comment, together with recommendations from the reviewers regarding the acceptability of the article, must be sent to the editorial staff. Only in the event where drastic corrections/alterations are implied by the recommendations will it be referred back to the author(s), accompanied by the proposals. Should a manuscript not be approved for publication it will not be returned to the author(s), but he/she/they will be notified of the result.
The aim of the peer review process is to ensure that the article
- adheres to the criteria with regard to its contribution to Christian scholarship, or its engagement into discussion with the Christian scholarly tradition;
- is presented in a scientifically sound manner;
- yields results that have not been published elsewhere;
- produces new scientific knowledge, where research of a high standard was performed;
- arrives at conclusions which flows forth from the research and are supported by the data;
- conforms to applicable standards regarding research ethics;
- adheres to appropriate reporting guidelines and community standards for data availability;
- is presented as intelligible and logical and written in an unequivocal manner; and
- conforms to the standard prescriptions for authors, as specified.
