The analysis of the current system concept as well as the distinction advanced in the philosophy of science between die core and periphery of theories are incorporated in support of the aim to advance a non-reductionist ontology, further enhanced by a brief investigation of the relationship between unity and diversity and the spatial whole-parts relation. The crux all our positive, systematic considerations is found in the nature of modal universality.</p>}, number={1}, journal={Tydskrif vir Christelike Wetenskap | Journal for Christian Scholarship}, author={Strauss, D.
